{"id":2398,"date":"2018-10-25T10:50:14","date_gmt":"2018-10-25T00:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theveterinarian.com.au\/?p=2398"},"modified":"2018-10-25T10:50:14","modified_gmt":"2018-10-25T00:50:14","slug":"record-turnout-for-wsava-world-congress-2018-as-plans-announced-for-2019-congress-in-toronto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theveterinarian.com.au\/?p=2398","title":{"rendered":"Record Turnout for WSAVA World Congress 2018 as Plans Announced for 2019 Congress in Toronto"},"content":{"rendered":"More than 3,350\u00a0delegates attended WSAVA World Congress in Singapore from 25-28\u00a0September, making it the mostpopular\u00a0World Congress ever.\u00a0 Veterinarians from more than\u00a066\u00a0countries\u00a0participated,\u00a0with strong attendances\u00a0from\u00a0theAsia-Pacific region,\u00a0including\u00a0the\u00a0Philippines,\u00a0India, Indonesia\u00a0and\u00a0Australia.\r\n\r\nThe WSAVA says the\u00a0record-breaking\u00a0delegate numbers reflect the rapid growth of companion animal practice across Asia as levels of pet ownership\u00a0soar.\u00a0They also highlight the enthusiasm of veterinarians in Asia and around the world to learn from their peers and to participate in the\u00a0WSAVA\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0unique \u2018global veterinary community\u2019 of more than 200,000 companion animal practitioners.\r\n\r\nThe WSAVA has also announced details of its\u00a044th World Congress<\/a>, which will be hosted by the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and take place in Toronto, Canada, from 16-19 July 2019.\u00a0 Delegates are urged to take advantage of Super Early Bird rates which close on 30\u00a0October\u00a02018.\u00a0 Early Bird rates\u00a0are\u00a0available until 10 April 2019.\r\n\r\nWSAVA World Congress 2018 saw the launch of the WSAVA\u2019s new\u00a0Global\u00a0Welfare\u00a0Guidelines for Companion Animal Practitioners\u00a0in addition to a comprehensive scientific program.\u00a0 WSAVA 2019 will feature more\u00a0than\u00a050 streams\u00a0on topics including soft\u00a0tissue surgery, diagnostic imaging, pain, dentistry, welfare, dermatology\u00a0and\u00a0theriogenology. It will\u00a0includecontent for\u00a0veterinary nurses\/vet techs and\u00a0practice managers.\r\n\r\nThe WSAVA\u2019s charitable Foundation\u2019s \u2018Fun(d) Run\u2019 is a regular\u00a0feature\u00a0of the Congress program.\u00a0The annual 5 km run or 3 km walk helps to save lives in Africa by raising funds to support the fight against rabies in Africa, led by the WSAVA Foundation\u2019s\u00a0AFSCAN<\/a>\u00a0project and charity\u00a0Mission Rabies<\/a>.\r\n\r\nCommenting on plans for WSAVA 2019, WSAVA President Dr Shane Ryan said:\u00a0\u201cCE is at the heart of everything we do.
