Titanium teeth for prison dog

A valuable Victorian prison dog is showing off his new “smile” after receiving titanium incisors from veterinary dentist David Clarke. The German Shepherd, Axel, required the dental work after biting his bed board. Clarke, the owner of K9 Gums in Hallam, Victoria, has also treated big cats, gorillas and bears during his career.

“So much is spent on training working dogs that it ends up much cheaper to repair a dental problem than retire the dog,” Clarke said. Unbeknown to Axel, websites around the world immediately made a comparison to the legendary Bond film henchman Jaws. It has also been reported that similarly-fanged dogs from the US Navy SEALs were present during the capture and killing of Osama bin Laden last month.
