Greencross announces award winners

The  Greencross Pet Wellness Company has announced the award winners from its 2023 National Clinical Symposium and leadership conference.

Held at the Royal Pines Gold Coast, this year’s symposium was the largest event in the company’s history, bringing together more than 1600 vets, vet nurses, Petbarn and Animate team members, sponsors and exhibitors across vet and retail.

Over the two days, vets and vet nurses had the opportunity to attend industry-leading education sessions, gain Continuing Education (CE) points and engage with a range of suppliers and sponsors. 

This year’s Clinical Symposium brought together specialists representing the largest network of specialty and emergency animal hospitals, covering a range of specialty areas from dermatology, neurology, oncology, and critical care and surgery.

“This year’s Clinical Symposium was an outstanding success,” Michelle Dries of Greencross said. “It was so wonderful to see so many of our vets, specialists, and vet nurses together to learn and share their knowledge. It was also a great opportunity for our vet team leaders to collaborate and develop their leadership skills.

“The clinical sessions were carefully curated for our entire network to bring world-class knowledge and expertise to our teams. We had a fantastic mix of internal vets, vet nurses and specialists as well as external partners deliver sessions including Advanced Anaesthesia: Head, Haemorrhage and Hot tips for experienced nurses; Managing the small animal patient with poly-trauma for ECC Vets and Connecting pets to good outcomes, how every conversation counts. Every Pet Every Time leadership session.”

Dries congratulated the award winners for their hard work and dedication to the provision of excellent animal health care. 

  • National Winner – Greencross Vets Veterinary Director of the Year: Victoria Lawrence of Greencross Port Macquarie
  • National Winner – Specialist and Emergency Veterinary Director of the Year: Liam Donaldson of Greencross Vet Hospital at the University of Melbourne
  • National Winner – Greencross Vets Practice Manager of the Year: Kelly McKay of Greencross Stud Park and Narre Warren
  • Better Together Award: Sarah Wandel, Diane Whatling and Nathan Nimmo of Greencross South Australia and AEC/AAERC/AVSARC

The Clinical Symposium complements the company’s ongoing investment in team development which includes scholarships for external education and learning opportunities for vets, as well as the recently launched Greencross Growth Scholarship for nurses.

Throughout the year the company holds more than 70 learning and development opportunities for team members to engage in ongoing professional growth and skill enhancement. These opportunities encompass a wide range of subjects and formats, including workshops, online courses, mentorship programs, and hands-on training sessions. Greencross is committed to fostering a culture of learning and development, ensuring that team members have access to the resources and support they need to excel in their roles and advance their careers.
